This year, Porsche celebrates its 75th anniversary in motorsports by featuring special liveries on its race cars, honoring two distinct eras of its racing history. The No 6 car is adorned with the colors of the Sunoco Porsche 917/30 from the 1970s, showcasing a deep blue base with yellow cockpit, fenders, and side mirrors, accented by subtle red outlines. Meanwhile, the No 7 car sports a modern livery inspired by the Porsche RS Spyder from the 2000s, predominantly yellow with red accents on the fenders and sides, and a white splash at the front to highlight the car’s number.
In addition to celebrating Porsche’s milestone, the US racing team Penske is marking its 60th anniversary. This event is significant as it is the first time the two Porsche Penske 963 prototypes will compete with different liveries. The special designs will be on display during the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road America in Wisconsin.
Fans can watch the Porsches in action during the Michelin Endurance Cup race, which will last six hours. The race is scheduled to start at 11:30 AM ET on Sunday. Currently, Porsche holds second place overall in the manufacturer standings of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, trailing behind Cadillac, which leads by 80 points.
