Alpina has officially joined the BMW Group, unveiling its first car of this new era, the Vision BMW Alpina. This large luxury coupe serves as a design study and a preview of Alpina’s first model, set to debut next year. The car is described as embodying “extreme capability, sophistication, and the mastery of both performance and comfort,” drawing inspiration from the 7 Series. Measuring 204.7 inches in length, it is positioned between the current 7 Series and the 5 Series, featuring an undisclosed V8 engine known for its rich sound at low speeds and sonorous tone at high revs.

The Vision BMW Alpina boasts a striking design with thin lighting elements and a three-dimensional illuminated kidney grille. Its shark-nose front end is adorned with metallic Alpina branding, while the iconic 20-spoke wheels, a signature since 1971, measure 22 inches at the front and 23 inches at the rear. The rear of the car features four elliptical tailpipes integrated into a subtle diffuser, complemented by thin taillights around the trunk opening. The interior reflects a modern BMW design, incorporating the BMW Panoramic iDrive, a new passenger screen, and minimal physical buttons, indicating readiness for production.

Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group Design boss, emphasized Alpina’s unique blend of performance and refinement, where speed and comfort are complementary. As the new custodians of the Alpina brand, BMW aims to preserve its distinctiveness while adapting it for a contemporary audience. The Vision BMW Alpina was showcased at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, following BMW’s acquisition of Alpina in early 2026. Founded in 1965, Alpina has a long history of tuning and refining BMW vehicles, and this new collaboration marks an exciting chapter for both brands.
