Hyundai has been selling electric vehicles globally under the Ioniq name, known for their unique designs featuring pixel lightning elements. However, for the Chinese market, Hyundai is introducing a fresh design approach with two new concepts, Venus and Earth. The Venus is a sleek sedan, while the Earth is a robust SUV, both sharing single-curve silhouettes that connect them despite their distinct forms.

The interiors of these concepts reflect modern electric vehicle trends, with the Venus featuring a wide dashboard screen, a drive-focused cabin, and no buttons, complemented by chrome-gold accents and layered mood lighting. The Earth, although similar, has a smaller center screen and unique rear seats that swivel with “air-hug” seats and “soft air modules.” The mood lighting in the Earth is designed to mimic tree shadows, adding a unique touch to its interior.

Hyundai has not disclosed any powertrain details for these concepts, describing them instead as indicators of the Ioniq brand’s future design language in China. A notable feature that will be carried into production is the naming convention, with future Ioniq models being named after “planets” to create a “universe” of models. These concepts were unveiled ahead of the Beijing Auto Show on April 24, marking a new chapter for Hyundai’s Ioniq brand in China.
