Alfa Romeo could have built a mid-engined sporty convertible to take on the Porsche Boxster. Juan Manuel Diaz, former Alfa designer and head of MiTo design, revealed it in an Instagram post. In 2008, the company had asked the design center to prepare sketches for a new sports car, with the idea of competing with Porsche and Audi in the small sports-car segment. After a series of proposals, nothing came of it—the 2008 crisis was looming—and it’s a shame, because many would have dreamed of an Alfa like that.
