Toyota is recalling 105,794 Land Cruiser Hybrid SUVs from the 2024 through 2026 model years over a fuel-tube connection that can come loose near the tank. A leak that meets an ignition source raises the risk of fire.

Owners of the current J250-generation Land Cruiser are affected across three model years. Dealers will fix the issue for free. Toyota has logged 23 field reports and 64 warranty claims tied to the problem so far.

The recall covers model year 2024 through 2026 Land Cruiser Hybrids, totaling 105,794 vehicles. Toyota built the affected trucks between November 29, 2023, and October 1, 2026, according to the NHTSA filing 26V673.

The safety recall report describes Toyota's awareness and investigation of fuel leaks during 2025 and 2026, culminating in the recall decision this year. The automaker estimates roughly 1 percent of the recalled population actually carries the defect.

This recall joins a run of Toyota safety actions over the last several years, including a RAV4 plug-in hybrid recall and a separate Tundra engine recall tied to manufacturing debris. Remedies and owner notifications are already under way on both.

Fuel-Tube Connection Can Leak

The defect sits at a retaining clip joining a resin fuel tube to a metal one, running from the gas tank to the engine. If that clip lifts or goes missing, the connection can separate and let fuel escape before the hybrid system's engine shuts down.

NHTSA's listing describes the condition as a fuel leak that can increase the risk of fire if it reaches an ignition source.

Dealers will inspect the fuel-tube connection and install a supplemental clamp at no charge. If that is not enough, technicians will replace the resin fuel tube entirely.

The whole process is covered under federal recall law regardless of warranty status.

Toyota expects to mail owner notification letters between November 29 and December 13, 2026. Owners will see internal recall codes 26TB23 and 26TA23 on that paperwork and in dealer records.

Drivers who want to check sooner can look up their 17-character VIN through NHTSA's recall search tool rather than waiting on the mail.

Owners should park outdoors away from structures if they smell fuel, see drips near the rear of the vehicle, or notice higher than normal fuel use until the inspection is done.

The same online lookup also surfaces older, unrelated issues like the Highlander seat recall that now covers many 2021 through 2025 SUVs, so it's worth checking any Toyota in the household.
