Audi drivers no longer need a phone to stream Spotify. Starting October 21, 2026, the automaker became the first to run Spotify's fully native in-car app, built directly into the vehicle's infotainment system with no Bluetooth or cable required.
The app works through the Audi Application Store on newer models, and it changes what is possible both behind the wheel and parked at a charger. Here are the cars that qualify and what works while you are driving.
Which 2026 Audi Models Get Spotify's Native App

The native app runs on vehicles built on Audi's Premium Platform Electric and Premium Platform Combustion architectures. At launch, that means the Audi A6 E-Tron, Q6 E-Tron, and the 2026 A5, Q5, and A6. Audi says additional current and future models on these platforms will follow over time, but it has not named specific nameplates beyond these yet.
Setup is refreshingly simple: download the app free from the Audi Application Store, then sign in with a Spotify Free or Premium account. Once that is done, the car streams on its own. No phone tethering, no cable, no Bluetooth pairing dance every time you get in.
Audi plans to roll the feature out across 47 markets worldwide, spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Availability and specific features can still vary by region, so what you get in Germany might not match what shows up in the US right away.
Cost depends on your market and your Spotify subscription tier. The app itself is free to install, but you will still need a paid or ad-supported account to play anything, same as on a phone. For context on how Audi handles other infotainment quirks, the brand's fade and balance audio settings live in the same system menus.
What Works While Driving, And What Waits Until Parked

Audi built this with driver distraction rules in mind, so the experience splits cleanly into two modes. While the car is moving, you get the core Spotify menus, playback controls, and voice commands through "Hey Audi" or Spotify DJ, all without touching a screen.
Sign-in and settings are locked out entirely while driving. Video content waits until the vehicle is stationary, and Audi limits richer visual elements while moving to keep eyes on the road rather than on a scrolling lyric feed.

Park the car, though, and the screen opens up. Full-screen video podcasts, music videos, and live lyrics all become available on the main MMI display, even while an EV is charging. Spotify Jam also lets riders scan a QR code to join a shared session and add songs to the queue from their own phones.
Cars with a separate passenger display skip most of those restrictions. A front passenger can browse content, read lyrics, or watch video while the vehicle is in motion, since that screen sits outside the driver's view and does not trigger the same distraction limits. It is a setup similar in spirit to how Ford's wheel-mounted Spotify controls handle playback without forcing a glance at the center stack, though Audi's version cuts the phone out of the loop completely.
