Michael Jordan's custom 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello, chassis 108712, spent roughly a quarter century out of sight after he sold it. Miami dealer Curated tracked it down in early 2026, and now it is headed to auction.

Joopiter, the sale platform backed by Pharrell Williams, will run online bidding from September 15 through September 30. The car carries a pre-sale estimate of $700,000 to $1,300,000, well above what a typical 550 Maranello brings.

Jordan ordered the 550 Maranello new, in a custom exterior and interior combination with period options built around his preferences. The car reflects his fifth NBA championship season, and Curated's records tie it directly to his ownership in the late 1990s.

Curated co-founder John Temerian led the search that ended the car's long disappearance, tracing it to a long-term owner before acquiring it and partnering with Joopiter to bring it to market. That chain of custody is unusually well documented for a celebrity-owned car.

Hagerty's valuation guides put a concours-condition 1997 550 Maranello at under $300,000, according to reporting on the sale. The gap between that figure and Joopiter's estimate shows how much of the price rests on Jordan's ownership and the paperwork behind it.

Joopiter and Curated plan to put the Ferrari on public display at the Cart Department, 16 Morton Street in New York City, from September 15 to 20. It will sit alongside Jordan's game-worn jersey from Game 3 of the 1998 NBA Finals, part of the "Driven to Greatness" theme tying both pieces to that championship run.

The Shoe That Borrowed Its Lines

Nike designer Tinker Hatfield leaned on the 550 Maranello when he drew up the Air Jordan XIV, and the connection is not subtle once you know it. The shoe's badging and body lines echo the Ferrari's curves and its prancing-horse emblem.

That link is why this particular 550 carries weight beyond its rarity as a Ferrari. It is the physical object behind a sneaker design story that has been retold for nearly three decades, which gives bidders a reason to chase it.

For Joopiter, the sale marks its first serious push into high-end collector cars, a category the platform has not tested at this level before. Pairing the Ferrari with Jordan's championship jersey is a deliberate bet that provenance sells harder than the car alone.

Motor1's Take: This sale tests how much provenance and pop-culture links can lift a familiar model's value. Collectors and sneakerheads will watch whether the crossover holds.

Joopiter's entry will be judged by buyer appetite for paired memorabilia. Its outcome should shape future cross-category lots.
