A woman reveals how a man took the gas nozzle away while she was parked at the pump.

As of this writing, the TikTok has gone viral, generating over 1.4 million views.

I Was About to Put Gas In

In the post, Natalya (@vv.natalya) films her interaction confronting a man who swiped the gas pump away while she was parked.

“I was going to put gas in,” tells the man pumping gas.

“I didn’t know. I thought you were in a car,” he justifies.

“No, it’s alright, whatever. But hope you’re almost done soon. I was here first,” she passively replies.

“I thought your car was just parked,” he doubles down.

The video shows how the man parked his car directly behind Natalya's in an unusual move. The man parked horizontally behind Nataly’s car, which had to be done by backing in. The pull-up move was blocked by trash cans and metal poles.

Natalya was flustered by the audacity of this move, and commenters agreed.

“Where do people get this entitlement from nowadays?” one TikTok commenter questioned.

“I literally have never seen someone do this in my entire life,” another shared.

“The ‘I didn’t know’ as she’s pulled into the space?” a third replied.

What Is Proper Gas Station Etiquette?

“The breakdown of social norms and decency is perhaps the worst part of this new world,” one TikTok commenter opined.

While some things feel like common sense, not everyone abides by the golden rule. According to Jalopnik, these are the unbreakable rules of the gas station:

No Parking At a Gas Pump
Turn Off Your Engine
Spill Something, Say Something
Never Block Fuel Pumps Your Car Doesn’t Need
Don’t Leave Your Car Running
No Smoking
Use the Pump Farthest From the Entrance
Take Your Receipt or Throw it Away

Additionally, more forums like Reddit and Quora have deeply discussed gas station etiquette.

“It's rude, and unsafe and will be considered suspicious for you just parking at the gas pump. Be considerate of others and others will be considerate to you,” a gas station manager shared on Quora.

“I would say it's good form to not use pumps with diesel nozzles when other pumps are available,” one Reddit user shared.
