There will be Google AI on the new Mercedes CLA
It will be the first model to integrate Google's artificial intelligence into the satnav
The new Mercedes CLA will debut in March 2025 and will debut the star's new, more powerful and feature-rich operating system, including Google Cloud's new Automotive AI Agent. This is the voice assistant for cars developed by the Mountain View giant, which integrates Gemini, Google's artificial intelligence.
A collaboration that will allow the new CLA to exploit Google Maps in a new way, all without having to touch the infotainment monitor or other controls.
A chat with the AI
As is already the case with the voice assistant in Mercedes' MBUX system, driver and passengers will be able to talk to the infotainment system. The main difference will lie in 'how' they will talk and the answers that will be given.
In fact, Google's Automotive AI Agent, fully integrated into Google Maps, will allow real conversations, to search for nearby places or route information. It will be possible, for example, to ask "Can you guide me to the nearest restaurant for a unique dining experience?" in order to display the best restaurants, then asking for further information such as reviews of the place, the menu and much more.
Complex dialogues are stored in the infotainment system, so you can continue the conversation without having to start from scratch. This is exactly as it already happens today on smartphones, tablets and notebooks with Gemini or other LLM (Large Language Model) artificial intelligences.
Mercedes CLA 2025
New Mercedes CLA, what's new
In addition to the infotainment system, the new Mercedes CLA will bring numerous new features, first and foremost the 100 per cent electric powertrain, set to debut at the unveiling. Subsequently, the star saloon/coupé will also be available with an electrified powertrain.
Aesthetically derived from the concept seen in 2023, it will be based on the new MMA modular platform, designed primarily for electric cars and ready to serve other models coming in the next few years.
