Porsche's 911 series has long since ceased to be a truly purist model. Turbos here, adaptive chassis there, plus automatic gearboxes and a whole host of assistance systems for maximum comfort in favour of the well-heeled (and usually older) 911 customers. Would you prefer to concentrate on the essentials and still drive a 911? Then here comes the new edition of the Carrera T.

Let's get straight to the essentials: The 911 Carrera T (the "T" stands for "Touring") is powered by the 3.0-litre six-cylinder biturbo boxer engine from the 911 Carrera. It delivers 394 PS and develops a torque of up to 450 Newton metres. A six-speed manual gearbox transmits the drive power to the rear axle. When downshifting, an intermediate throttle function automatically and specifically compensates for speed differences between the engine and transmission.

With the Sport Chrono Package fitted as standard, the Carrera T Coupé sprints to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds (the Cabriolet, available for the first time with the T, takes 4.7 seconds). The top speed is 183 mph (a maximum of 182 mph is possible without the roof). In order to do justice to the increase in power compared to its predecessor (it had 385 PS), the Carrera T is fitted with a larger brake system with 350 millimetre brake disc diameters all round and six-piston fixed callipers on the front axle.

For the first time, Porsche equips the model with rear-axle steering as standard in conjunction with a more direct steering ratio on the front axle. The build-up of lateral acceleration is faster, the steering should respond more directly and driving stability should be increased at the same time. The adaptive sports suspension (PASM) with 10 millimetre lowering is given a model-specific, sporty set-up. The 911 Carrera T is fitted with 20/21-inch Carrera S light-alloy wheels. The front axle is fitted with 245/35 ZR20 tyres and the rear with 305/30 ZR21 tyres.

Visually, the T-Model can be distinguished from a normal Carrera by, among other things, a sticker with a gearshift logo attached to the rear triangular window. The model designation at the rear is in the contrasting colour "vanadium grey" just like the inserts in the boot lid grille, the exterior mirror upper and lower shells and the wheels. Another feature of the Carrera T is the aerodynamically optimised spoiler lip, which comes from the 911 Carrera GTS. There are plenty of paint colours. The choice of colours for the soft top of the 911 T Cabriolet is somewhat more limited. Here you can choose between the colours black, red, blue and brown.

Highlight in the interior? Definitely the shortened gear lever with an open-pore walnut laminated wood ball as the gear knob. A plaque with the lettering "MT" (for "Manual Transmission") is placed in front of the lever. The gearshift logo is again printed on the dashboard on the passenger side.

The standard equipment includes a leather-covered GT sports steering wheel with heating and mode switch. Alternatively, a Race-Tex steering wheel cover is available. The decorative inlays in the instrument panel and centre console are again in "vanadium grey", while the inlays in the door panel are made of black brushed aluminium. And if you feel like it, you can click through a huge range of extras and packages in the configurator, as with pretty much every Porsche model.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera T is now available to order in the UK at prices starting from £111,300. The 911 Carrera T Cabriolet costs from £121,300. First deliveries will commence from Q1 2025.
