The already sold out BMW M4 GTS has managed to register a quite promising lap time on the Nurburgring, according to the manufacturer.
Revealed back in October, the M4 GTS made a big splash with its carbon fiber body details, titanium exhaust system, OLED taillights, and water injection technology, helping the 3.0-liter TwinTurbo 6-cylinder engine to produce 500 hp (368 kW). Now BMW M has released a teaser video, revealing the car lapped the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in “around 7:28 minutes.”
Jorg Weidinger, BMW M chassis development test driver, was responsible for the fast lap and the Germans are saying the exact time is “between 7:27:51 and 7:28:49.” Preliminary analyses suggest the M4 GTS could be among the 40 fastest cars on the Green Hell, being faster than supercars like the 2008 Porsche 911 GT2, Ferrari 458 Italia, Koenigsegg CCX, and more.
“The BMW M4 GTS is indeed a thrilling overall package,” Weidinger commented. “This is not just because of its formidable engine but the three-way coilover suspension also plays an important role. The kinematics, tires, aerodynamics, and the design of the ‘driver’s workplace - all of these components are coordinated to work together perfectly.”
