Jaguar has introduced the 2016 model year XJ full-size sedan which comes with a series of updates.
It takes a keen eye to spot the visual differences but Jaguar's flagship model has gained a bigger, more upright front grille while the air intakes have sculpted chrome blades. The full LED headlights have slightly revised graphics along with fresh J-signature LED taillights which make the XJ appear more "distinctive" also helped by the oval exhaust finishers.
Perhaps the most important change is the addition of a more luxurious Autobiography variant available exclusively in the long wheelbase guise and with 20-inch Maroa alloy wheels. It gains chrome air intakes on the front bumper while on the inside it has been pampered with quilted semi-aniline leather seats with contrasting stitching. There's also a leather headliner, illuminated stainless steel treadplates, rich oak inlay veneer and individual seats with sliding and massaging functions while a rear-seat entertainment system has also been added with dual 10.2-inch folding HD displays.
Jaguar is also expanding the XJ range with an R-Sport model distinguishable thanks to a three-piece front splitter, new side sills, side power vents and a rear spoiler. The window finishers, rear valance and grille mesh now adopt a glossy black look while the 20-inch wheels have a Mataivia design. Inside the cabin there are sport seats, R-Sport steering wheel & treadplates, along with a piano black or carbon fiber trim and a Jet headliner.
The 2016 model year also brings a new electric power-assisted steering which promises to offer greater responsiveness and cut fuel consumption. There's also an optional exterior black pack, latest safety & assistance systems, double J-blade daytime running lights and the All-Surface Progress Control (ASPC) technology suitable for low-traction areas.
The 2016 Jaguar XJ will go on sale this fall at a starting price in UK of £58,690 for the entry-level XJ SWB 3.0D Luxury and go all the way up to £100,000 for the XJ LWB 5.0P S/C Autobiography variant.
