This new model will replace the unsuccessful Tiida and Almera models in Europe as a better offering in the C-segment to take on the Golf and Ford Focus. It will actually be a global car which will receive a different name evoking "something from the past".

Nissan previously described the front fascia as being "a little bit leftfield, a little bit edgy" and they said it will get the corporate V-shaped grille. The five-door hatchback will be offered with Nissan's latest tech including a self-parking system and a full-length panoramic sunroof. Engine lineup is not known at the moment but several 1.2- and 1.5-liter engines from the Renault-Nissan alliance are likely.

The model will be manufactured in Barcelona, Spain where Nissan is investing 130M to facilitate the model's arrival. At this facility they will also increase Navara/Frontier production and make Leaf/eNV200 transmissions.

Nissan could decide to show the car in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Sales are expected to commence at the beginning of 2014.
