Nissan engineers apparently have too much time on their hands as the company has introduced the world's first "Intelligent Parking Chair."

Drawing inspiration from the intelligent park assist technology that is used in the company's automobiles, the Intelligent Parking Chair is able to drive and park itself underneath a desk.

In order to do this, engineers developed a unique chair base which uses electric motors and specially designed wheels that enable the chair to have 360° of motion.  The chairs are then placed in a room which has four cameras located on the ceiling.  The cameras effectively create a map of the room so the chairs can navigate to a 'parking' space underneath a desk.

Once everything has been setup, an employee simply claps their hands and the chairs are magically tucked in regardless of how far away from the desk they are.

The Intelligent Parking Chair was created as part of a promotional project in collaboration with the Birdman creative team.  The goal of the project was to highlight the technology used in Nissan products and show how the company is "enriching people's lives through technology."
