Between the cars we get in our Detroit headquarters, and those we fly around the world to drive, there’s typically no lack of fresh metal being reviewed in the Motor1 universe. Even still, getting time behind the wheel of a Ferrari is a special thing. So when Giuliano Daniele – expert test driver at out Italian sister site, OmniAuto.it – had a chance to review the new Ferrari California T Handling Speciale, we jumped on the opportunity to bring it to you guys.
This is a special car. Ferrari has has immense success selling its convertible California thus far, and the Handling Speciale treatment gives the car the sort of knife-edge dynamic profile that brings it truly in-line with the company’s storied history.
Powered by a roaring, turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine, making 553 horsepower and 557 pound-feet of torque, the Speciale also features underpinnings better able to take advantage of that output. A stiffer suspension and recalibrated vehicle dynamics software means the California is sharper on a mountain road than ever before. A retuned exhaust means that you’ll hear the car coming, too.
Join Giuliano as he tells us, and more importantly, shows us, just what the lovely new Ferrari is capable of at a full tilt and over a coastal route. And stay tuned to Motor1’s YouTube channel (subscribe if you haven’t already), as we expect this to be one of many more exciting collaborations to come.
