Cash rebates run as high as $9,500 on remaining 2017 models through the end of the month.
With the new model year upon us we’re starting to see modest cash rebates and cut-rate financing deals being offered on 2018 models, and while we’re including several of them in the accompanying slide show of top sales incentives, the biggest deals of the month remain on leftover 2017 cars, trucks, and SUVs to help dealers clear their still-clogged inventories. Again, the biggest cash-back offer of the month is up to $9,500 on the heavy-duty Nissan Titan XD pickup truck, but we found nearly 50 models coming with rebates of at least $3,500.

Auto dealers love cash-back rebates as they’re usually applied directly to a buyer’s down payment, which can enable some consumers apply for a lower interest rate or help them qualify for a car loan in the first place if their history is dicey. Where low-rate or zero-percent financing is offered, be sure to run the numbers to see whether taking a discounted loan or the cash rebate affords the better deal (hint: cut-rate financing tends to favor higher-priced vehicles). Some of the models in our list offer both generous cash back deals along with discounted financing programs as an alternative to a bigger rebate. Unfortunately, the lowest advertised interest rates are typically reserved for those having the top credit scores.
Check automakers’ websites for current offers; some of these deals may vary by region.
