When the IMSA North American Road Racing series decided to allow full tube frame cars to compete, the race was on to take advantage of this new lightweight construction method. In 1977 John Greenwood and Bob Riley of the Protofab team created a tubular Corvette.

This racer is one of only two ever built and features an extensive aerodynamic package, not to mention 750-horsepower aluminum big block motor requisitioned by racer John Paul Sr.
