Like the latest Porsche Cayenne with which it’s sharing the same MLB Evo platform, the third-generation Touareg boasts rear-wheel steering. Offered as optional equipment, the system turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front ones while the SUV is doing up to 37 kph (23 mph). The implementation of all-wheel steering has lowered the turning circle from 12.19 meters (40 feet) to 11.19 meters (37 feet). Above that speed, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels.
