There’s certainly an appetite for special edition models in Japan if we take into account the numerous limited-run cars introduced in the Land of the Rising Sun in recent months. BMW is probably at the forefront among automakers with multiple cars that have a special status and are sold in limited quantities. Cadillac also wants to capitalize on the growing demand for ‘special’ cars and that’s why it has a new White Edition to follow the Luxury Sport Edition introduced earlier this year.
While the previous edition was offered only for the ATS Sedan, the new one can also be had for the ATS Coupe and the bigger CTS. Calling it a ‘special edition’ is a bit of a stretch since there aren’t any enough tweaks to make the models live up to their attributed status. All three are going to come with Crystal White Turi Court paint, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, and an electric sunroof.
Go for one of the two ATS models and Cadillac will apply some Light Platinum and Jet Black accents on the inside combined with a high-gloss Sapele wood trim. The bigger CTS is offered exclusively with a Kona Brown cabin with jet black accents and an Elm natural wood trim.
Regardless of model, all three are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 276 horsepower (203 kilowatts) at 5,500 rpm and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque from 3,000 rpm. The engine is linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission in charge of sending output to the rear axle in the ATS models and to both axles in the CTS.
Cadillac mentions total production will be capped at 20 units, with pricing kicking off at 5,850,000 yen (about $56,680) for the ATS Sedan, followed by the ATS Coupe from 5,950,000 yen ($57,650), and the CTS at 8,000,000 yen ($77,500).
