Job listings on Red Bull Racing’s Website are lending further credence to rumors that the AM-RB 001 hypercar could use a hybrid powertrain, and it could feature a semi-active suspension, too. First discovered by ESPN, the employee search wasn’t exactly a secret since the racing team titled the openings “AM-RB 001 Engineers.”

We already know the AM-RB 001 would use a new naturally aspirated V12 displacing less than 5.2-liters and able to rev to 11,000 rpms. The total output would be 900 to 1,000 horsepower. These positions also heavily indicate electric assistance for the engine. For example, the is looking for mechanical design engineers with a specialty in “automotive drivetrain integration – including hybridization. It also wants a controls engineer and electronics engineer with hybrid experience.

The posting looking for a controls engineer also stipulates the person needs experience with semi-active suspensions. Integrating the spring and dampers with the active aerodynamic elements should help with Adrian Newey’s goal of making the AM-RB 001 lap a track quicker than a Formula One car.

Aston Martin plans to build 99 examples of the AM-RB 001 and price them well above $1.3 million (1 million pounds), and there could be a few track-only examples, too. Red Bull still has time to build the development team because deliveries don’t begin until 2019.

Project Manager

Manage, drive and control project, meeting all goals of timing, cost and quality
Liaise with and maintain a good working relationship with the customer

Mechanical Design Engineers

Automotive Suspension design engineers
Automotive Drivetrain integration – including hybridisation
Automotive Powertrain Integration – cooling / engine mounting / exhausts / intake systems etc.
Controls Engineer

Specification of automotive control systems (gearbox / power train/ hybrid / semi-active suspension / OBD).
Control system calibration and associated tools, both on test rigs and in vehicles.
CAN bus networking design.
Matlab/Simulink for both simulation and model based code development.
Electronics Engineer

General Automotive – Electric Inst / HVAC / Hybrid Inst / Driver controls
Automotive wiring loom design (both LV and HV).
Automotive E.E architecture design.
NX CAD and particularly routing application.

Detailed knowledge of aerodynamic principles, and CFD techniques,
A good understanding of data analysis tools and techniques and other multi-disciplinary engineering skills including vehicle dynamics
Skilled in solid modelling and surfacing using NX CAD package
Simulation and Modelling Engineer #1

Simulation generalist with automotive/aerospace background
Experience in modelling hydraulic systems,
Must be experienced with Matlab/Simulink added benefit to have experience in Modelica.

Simulation engineer with a strong background in vehicle dynamics.
Must be experienced with Matlab/Simulink added benefit to have experience in Modelica.
FEA Engineers

Structural Engineers, proficient in Composites and Metal Alloys structural analysis;
Capable of carrying out classical structural "hand" calcs, plus creating, analysing and reporting on FEA models;
