Despite its familiar name, it has nothing to do with Hyundai.
Not to be confused with Hyundai’s Ioniq range of eco-friendly models, the ICONIQ Seven is the end result of a joint effort between W Motors and China-based ICONIQ Motors. You might have heard of the former thanks to the Lykan Hypersport which made an appearance in Fast and Furious 7. Now, the UAE marque based in Beirut, Lebanon is ready to show off its first design study created for a third party.
It takes the shape of a pure electric MPV featuring a boxy shape to maximize space inside the cabin. The ICONIQ Seven has an almost flat roofline, and judging by its name, it probably can host up to seven people. Cars in this segment are not what you would call exciting, but the concept is trying to change that by featuring suicide doors and a somewhat interesting angular design with a sharp front fascia and full-width LED taillights.
Like many of today’s concepts, the conventional side mirrors have been replaced by cameras which will make their debut on a production car this fall in Japan. The ICONIQ Seven could use a bigger set of wheels since the ones fitted are a tad too small in relation to the body’s size, but maybe it’s just our impression and perhaps it looks better in real life.
It’s more than just a showcar as the people from ICONIQ Motors want to launch a production version tailoring the taxi business and on-demand transportation services. It’s being billed as an affordable ‘ultimate MPV’ engineered with help from Magna Steyr, but at the moment there aren’t any details about the hardware. All we know right now is that it has an entirely electric powertrain.
More details should be revealed in the coming days at the Monterey Car Week where the concept will be displayed. W Motors will also be there to show off its second production car, the Fenyr SuperSport, which will be making its U.S. debut.

W Motors presents its latest partner: ICONIQ Motors
Dubai, August 17th, 2016 – W Motors is proud to announce its most recent partner: ICONIQ Motors. The China-based automotive company has been under development since 2014 and was established with the purpose of creating the ultimate multipurpose vehicle. With the continuous effort of several internationally renowned partners from all over the world, the final result of this quest took shape as one of the most exciting electric vehicles on the market: the ICONIQ Seven.
The brand new multipurpose vehicle results from the first W Motors design study for a third party. Our design team was able to combine the characteristically aggressive and exotic W Motors language with the concept of an electric vehicle focused on smart technology, reliability, entertainment and comfort.
ICONIQ will premiere its first vehicle to the public, the futuristic ICONIQ Seven, for the first time at the Monterey Car Week. The electric multipurpose vehicle will be participating in a series of private and public events throughout the week, namely the Concours on the Avenue, McCall’s Motorworks Event and Exotics on Cannery Road.
