$10 Million Will Get You This Championship-Winning Maserati Race Car
In its one year run, only 50 Maserati MC12s were ever built, making it one of the rarest road-going cars on Earth. But even rarer than that was its GT1 counterpart built specifically for the track. Just 11 of them were ever produced, and this one is for sale. Joe Macari Performance Cars in London, is putting up this rare Maserati for sale for a cool $10,000,000 (by way of Dupont Registry). But aside from being ridiculously rare, the MC12 GT1 was one of the most immediately successful racing cars to ever come out of Italy. RELATED: See Photos of the 2007 Maserati MC12 Corsa
Fielding three examples in the FIA GT GT1 class in 2004, the team finished second and third in its opening race, first in its following race, and first again in the final race. But due to homologation issues, the team finished seventh overall at the end of the season.
The team was more successful in 2005, taking home the overall championship with 239 points, nearly double the next team, Ferrari, at 125 points. And in 2006, the MC12 took home the championship again with Vitaphone at the helm. That’s where this car comes in.
The Maserati for sale here is that 2006 championship winner, and though it’s not street legal, it will undoubtedly be the most potent car at your next track day outing. So if your’e looking to spend your hard-earned cash on something exclusive, look no further.
