Dodge has announced the pricing of its much anticipated Challenger model and dealers are now taking orders across the country for deliveries starting this fall. Available in three trim levels:
The base SE model with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 250 hp (186 kW) and 250 lb-ft (339 Nm) of torque mated with a four-speed automatic transmission comes in a remarkably low $21,995, which includes destination fee of $675. Surely a no-frills model with just the bare essentials and 17-inch aluminum wheels, but for the budget conscious, you can't go wrong with that price.
The mid range R/T model is $29,995 which includes the new-generation 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine producing an estimated 370 hp (276 kW) and 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque when paired with the standard five-speed automatic transmission. Other distinguishing features of the R/T package include dual chromed rectangular exhaust tips, 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, fog lamps, body-color exterior mirrors, rear body-color spoiler and cast-metal fuel door. One notable R/T option is the “Track Pak”. For $995 it features a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission with "pistol-grip" shifter. This transmission with the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, it produces an additional 5 hp and 6 lb-ft of torque making a total of 375 hp (280 kW) and 404 lb-ft (548 Nm). Included with the pak is Hill-start Assist, limited-slip differential, chrome pedal covers and performance steering.
At the top of the range, the SRT8 model for $39,995 gets the whole enchilada as standard. With a choice of either Tremec six-speed manual transmission or standard five-speed automatic transmission, the SRT8 receives an exclusive 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine that produces 425 hp (317 kW) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque. Other special goodies included as standard are limited slip, Trac Pak, special red and blue exterior paint with black hood stripes, race seats, 180 mph speedometer, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, painted Brembo calipers, dual hood scoops, functional black rear spoiler, an acoustically tuned exhaust note and more.
