Lamborghini Zagato 5-95
2014 Lamborghini Zagato 5-95
What do you want for your 95th birthday? Well, maybe you will be lucky like the Italian coach-building company Zagato. Lambo created the 2014 Lamborghini Zagato 5-95 at the request of Swiss car collector Albert Spiess, one of the biggest Lamborghini collectors in the world. It was his goal to create an instant collectible.
Zagato is a logical choice. The Milan company had a huge influence on the history of Lamborghini with its transformation of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 that revolutionized Lamborghini’s history into a contemporary collectible. It beat out all of the Lamborghini cars by bering the best-selling Lambo in the company’s first 50 years from 1963 to 2013.
The 2014 Lambo Zagato 5-95 was created with distinct touches that are the signature of the Zagato coach builders. The front floating spoiler finds its inspiration from the Lamborghini Raptor Zagato. The carbon fiber firewall masks the front air intakes.
The minimalist style of Zagato is also applied to the side air intakes. They are reduced to a minimum through the use of a roof air scoop. Glass surfaces feature concealed apertures that complement the air intakes. The signature Zagato design includes a functional air scoop. It is a part of the double bubble roof and directs the cooling down to the infold manitake.
Another Zagato design touch comes with the inclusion of a wind deflector. It’s placed at the bottom of the windshield to give the hood a longer look. But it’s more than just a design element. Keeping to Zagato’s focus on functionality, it also improves the windflow over the windshield wipers. In addition to aerodynamics, it also reduces outside noise inside the cabin.
The 2014 Lamborghini Zagato 5-95 revisits a classic design theme from its history: continuous glass surfaces. The company first applied it in the 1940s on its panoramic bodies and then again in the 1980s. The surfaces surround the body, which features no obvious pillars, and help reduce outside noise.
The one-of-a-kind Lamborghini cars is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4. Power comes from a V10 rated at 570 horsepower. You can also achieve 198 mph and crack 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds. Not bad for a tribute to a 95-year-old company but then again this is Zagato. Run fast and look good doing it.
