The 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger Hellcat is a car that needs no introduction.
Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of Dodge, says that the Dodge Challenger SRT with Hellcat engine is "the ultimate performance muscle car." While that sounds like typical marketing hyperbole, in this case we have to admit he’s right. State troopers coast-to-coast be warned: this is one bad boy that refuses to be tamed.
With its mix of classic styling and Star Trek-like technology, the Challenger not only presents an intimidating profile but also does a damn good job of handling aerodynamics. The brains at Dodge went back to the drawing board for the 2015 model, spending some serious time in Chrysler’s Auburn Hills, Michigan wind tunnel.
The result: a reworked fascia design with a split grille and oversized hood. Dual air extractors keep a lid on the heat and ensure even airflow to the engine. The quad headlamps and fog lamps add to Challenger’s give-me-no-crap looks while reducing wind resistance.
The Challenger’s side profile features larger rear-quarter panels and blended fender/belt lines at the front and back. For the Hellcat, the word 'SUPERCHARGED' is boldly displayed across the fender badges. Goodyear RSA2 tires help to ensure that the Challenger stays in contact with the road.
Harley Earl would love the jet fighter-like design of the Challenger SRT Hellcat’s interior. The instrument panel features a fully customizable 7 inch data display. The digital screen is offset by a classic-look analog speedometer and tachometer. The aluminum trim is complemented by sumptuous leather-encased touches and bold accent stitching. To show that this Challenger is no stranger to modern technology, the media hub includes an audio jack, SD card slot, and USB connection.
The 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat offer something never before seen in Dodge history: dual key fobs. The red one is needed to unlock the massive 600+ horsepower engine’s full fury. The black fob enables a lesser-powered driving experience, for everyday commutes to the office and back. Buyers can choose from either a six speed manual gearbox or ultra-smooth eight speed automatic. With its cutting-edge features and classic styling, this is one Dodge that will be hard for the competition to catch.
