Morgan EV3 Prototype

Unfortunately, a majority of the planet has never heard of an automotive company called Morgan and their beautiful baby, the Morgan Three Wheeler. To some, the thought of a tiny roadster with three wheels sounds like madness, but to the geniuses at Morgan, it sounded like pure bliss. After the success of the 82 horsepower, three-wheeled roadster, Morgan decided it was time to come up with a new Three Wheeler, one that runs purely on electricity. Dubbed the EV3, Morgan plan to debut the new Three Wheeler at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

From just looking at the car, one would be oblivious to the fact that it was not a normal Morgan Three Wheeler. The only real giveaway is the large, EV3 patterned behind the driver on the side panels. Styling at the front end has been simplified from the original and the polished-aluminum body pair perfectly with the polished-aluminum disc front wheels. These subtle changes are quite effective in adding a 1950s-feel to the vehicle. Prospective buyers will be given a number of exterior color choices to choose from which can be complimented by various wheel arches design and wire wheels.

The interior is nearly the exact same as the company’s other models. The interior will come in an option of either black or tan leather-padded color, both done with a plane-style cockpit in mind. The aircraft feel continues with aluminum plane-style toggle switches, controlling the windows and locks. A leather steering wheel and black anodized dash panel continue the aircraft feeling.

The new EV3 ditches the V-twin motorcycle engine for a new electric motor and battery pack located in the rear. Morgan stated that the electric drivetrain can produce an equivalent of 100 horsepower, or 75 kW, and has a range of around 150 miles.
