Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Many welcomed updates are in store for the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, most notable being the upgrades to the engine. For those customers selecting the AMG version of the G-Class, they have the ability to choose the all-new AMG Edition 463. This limited model offers cosmetic upgrades and a sportier look, both inside and out. Base MSRP $117,400

For the limited AMG Edition 463, AMG sport strips line the sides, a stainless steel front skid plate protects the grill and front end, and unique, 21-inch wheels set the AMG apart from the standard G-Wagen. The updates for the standard 2016 G-Class models, center around the G350d and the G500. An updated front bumper features larger air intakes and houses the front parking sensors along with an “eye” for the adaptive radar cruise control. Mercedes-Benz brings us a handful of new colors for 2016, including Solar Beam, Tomato Red, Alien Green, Sunset Beam, and Galactic Beam. Other parts such as the side mirrors, wheel arches, bumpers, roof, and spare tire cover are painted Obsidian Black.

Those familiar with any G-Class model know that everything is luxurious and to the highest standards of Mercedes-Benz. For 2016, there are slight updates to the high-tech interior, including a revised gauge cluster with enhanced needles and a new chrome-trimmed, four-spoke steering wheel. For the Edition 463 AMG, a two-tone dashboard with matching, two-tone, design leather seats adds a whole new look to the cabin. There are real carbon fiber trim pieces on the doors and dashboard as well as the center console. Stitching in all of the seats, dashboard, and the steering wheel pulls in the exterior body paint color.

Mercedes-Benz has said “Goodbye” to the 5.5-liter, naturally aspirated V8 from the previous G-Wagens, and welcomes a new 4-liter Biturbo V8. This new engine pumps out 422 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, making the launch to 60 mph only take 5.9 seconds and will propel the German tank up to an electronically limited 155 mph.
