Infiniti Q70L

Infiniti’s new Q70L is powerful, smooth, and elegant. Prior to 2015, this model was known as the “M” and is now known as a midsize luxury performance sedan that has more performance than its predecessor, an improvement that is inherently apparent on winding roads. The “L” in the name stands for “long wheelbase,” a vestige of the car’s roots back in China before moving to Hong Kong. The L version adds an additional 5.9 inches to the Q70’s wheelbase and 7.3 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Base MSRP $51,350

A noticeable change from the previous “M” model is that the top line of the trunk lid has been flattened out in order to help the vehicle achieve a sportier, more powerful look. The new model is meant to have more curb appeal than its predecessor. The front bumper and grille have been redesigned, the LED fog lights and headlights have been improved upon and the car’s exterior lines are more free-flowing in general, adding to a more muscular stance along with the enhanced fender flares, designed to make the car look somewhat menacing. Infiniti cites impressive aero numbers for the restyled Q70s, producing coefficient of drag ratings raging from 0.26 to 0.28, depending on the car’s equipment.

The longer wheelbase means more room for the passengers inside. Providing nearly six more inches of rear leg and knee room in the backseat, your passengers are sure to thank you for getting the Q70L over the base Q70. This is a big plus for the Q70L, as most other auto manufacturers do not offer long-wheelbase versions of their cars in the U.S. The generous back seat also offers heated seats, personal reading lamps, automatic rear-door cinchers, and a 12-volt power outlet. Leather adorns all the seats, doors, and dash, and fine trim surrounds the occupants.

The base Q70L will feature the same 3.7-liter V6 as other Infiniti models, producing 330 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. An optional 5.6-liter V8 ramps up the horsepower to 420 and the torque rockets up to 417 lb-ft. Both engines are paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox and have an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
