Dodge Custom Lancer Royal
Dodge’s sales material for the freshly designed 1955 Custom Lancer Royal convertible unabashedly proclaimed it "New as tomorrow's headlines... exciting as overtime hockey." There was good cause for such superlatives; Virgil Exner’s bold “Forward Look” styling was decidedly fashionable, beginning with twin wraparound bumpers decorating large twin front grille openings, hooded headlights and an imitation hood scoop that spread to form bright-accented body side dips that visually reduced the Lancer’s high body sides before arriving at chrome-plated tail fins and “Tandem-Jet” tail lights. This highly optioned 1955 Lancer Royal Convertible builds on the Exner design with two-tone Heather Rose and Sapphire White paint, a Rose and Black interior, Black soft top and boot and chromed wire wheels with wide Whitewall tires. Hemi power lurks within in the Red Ram 270 CI 4-barrel V-8, with an automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes filling out the performance specs. Luxury and convenience touches include a power front seat, power top, AM radio and in-dash clock.
