Walter De Silva, Head of Design for the Volkswagen Group, wanted to honor Lamborghini on the occasion of its half-century of producing distinctive supercars. So, he created one of this own: the 2013 Lamborghini Egoista Concept.

The 2013 Lamborghini Concept is both unusual and extreme. Its unique characteristics were created by the Volkswagen Group design team: Alessandro Dambrosio on the exterior and Stefan Sielaff in the interior.

For the exterior, Dambrosio used the fundamental aspects of architecture and special materials. This Lambo architecture is characterized as highly muscular, which seems appropriate for a brand with a strong history of naming individual models after famous bulls. Speaking of which, the bodywork is dominated by the stylized profile of a bull preparing to charge with its horns lowered along the sides.

On a practical front, the upper part of the 2013 Lamborghini Concept is distinguished by flaps that are part of the profile of the bodywork that are responsive as needed to driving conditions. Two flaps in the rear kick in at high speeds for stability enhancements. More flaps serve as cooling appendages for air flow to the muscular V10 engine.

According to De Silva, the interior of the 2013 Lamborghini Egoista Concept is designed for a singular person, which is a big step away from Lamborghini’s typical two-seat coupes. He described it as designed purely for hyper-sophisticated people who want only the most extreme and special things in the world.

The cockpit of the 2013 Lamborghini Egoista Concept is, not surprisingly, made up of carbon fiber and aluminum: two dominant materials in any Lamborghini design. The cockpit is designed as a removable section. Da Silva tapped into Lamborghini’s tradition of being inspired by aviation, in this instance the Apache Helicopter. Its cockpit can be explosively separated from the rest of its fuselage in the case of an emergency. The Egoista Concept, though, does not feature that same capability.

The 2013 Lambo Egoista Concept is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine supplying it with 600 horsepower.
