Designed by the Alfa Romeo engineers and manufactured at the Maserati of Modena, the new supercar will go on sale Compact in 2013 and will mark the return of the Italian brand in the U.S., marking the beginning of the plan of Alfa Romeo's global growth.

The Alfa Romeo 4C derives directly from the concept that aroused such admiration at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 was plenty to win three prestigious awards: 'AutoBild Design Award' (2011, Germany), 'Design Award for Concept Cars & Prototypes' (2012, Italy) and 'Most Exciting Car of 2013 -' What Car? ' (2013, UK).

The acronym '4 C 'is inspired by the glorious past, projecting its brand into the future the values of technology and emotion. In fact, recalling the great sporting tradition of Alfa Romeo - the initials 8C and 6C in the thirties and forties have to identify cars, racing and road, equipped with the powerful 'eight-cylinder' and the innovative 'six-cylinder', confirming in its design and construction approach the goal of a weight / power ratio by a genuine supercar , less than 4 kg / hp, but focusing more than the maximum power output, to limit the weight to ensure maximum agility and performance. The Alfa Romeo 4C employs for this purpose technologies and materials derived from super (already including the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione) - carbon fiber, aluminum, rear-wheel drive - and technology of its latest models of Alfa Romeo series but renovated to enhance further the sporty new car. One example is the new 1750 Turbo Petrol direct injection all-aluminum, the sophisticated automatic dual dry clutch "Alfa TCT" and the Alfa DNA selector with the all-new Race mode.

Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo 4C immediately recalls some iconic models of the tradition that have left an important mark in the history of the brand. One for all, by analogy size and layout, is definitely the 33 Stradale, a car that combined the extreme mechanical and functional for an essential style that 'dressed' properly the engine and the chassis with the treatments unmistakably Alfa Romeo. 4C also traces the same path and does so at the completion of a process that began with the 8C Competizione radicalizing some concepts peculiar brand such as compactness, dynamism and agility.

The simplicity of design and materials also distinguishes the interior, everything being designed and aimed at maximum involvement of the driving experience. In particular, stands out immediately inside the carbon fiber used for the realization of the central cell, left exposed to enhance the sense of uniqueness, technology and lightness.

The compact size make this a unique "two-seater" in the competitive landscape: it is little less than 4 meters wide, 200 cm, 118 cm high and has a wheelbase of less than 2.4 meters. Measures that, on the one hand, emphasize the qualities of compactness of the car, on the other accentuate the characteristics of agility. Moreover, thanks to the excellent work of the designers, the car reaches the highest levels of aerodynamic efficiency registering a Cz (lift coefficient) which like competition vehicles, contributes to stability at high speeds.

Evolution of the engine already in use by version Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde, the new '4 cylinder '1750 Turbo Petrol has an innovative aluminum crankcase and specific intake and exhaust systems optimized to further enhance the sportiness of the car. In addition there are technical solutions such as direct injection, dual continuous variable valve timing, a turbocharger and a revolutionary control system called "scavenging" which eliminates the "turbo lag".

The 1750 Turbo Diesel is mated to the innovative automatic dual dry clutch Alfa TCT real point of reference for the sector weight and extremely quick implementation. The transmission can also be operated in batch mode through the "shift paddles" located behind the steering wheel.

Debut of the new Alfa Romeo 4C Alfa DNA selector that the three settings available so far - Dynamic, Natural and All Weather - adds a fourth mode, 'Race', designed to further enhance the experience of driving on the track.
