BMW X5 4.6is
More than any other X5 before it, the 4.6is emphasized the “Sport” in sport utility vehicle. It was an “M” car in all but name, intended from the outset to compete with the Mercedes-Benz ML55 AMG with a strong engine, superb brakes and sporty handling. Aside from an aggressive body kit, the most noticeable exterior upgrade was a set of standard five-spoke 20-inch wheels, wider at the rear, with lower profile tires. Under the hood, a 4.6-liter V8 produced 340 bhp with higher compression, bore and stroke and a five-speed Steptronic automatic transmission with a sequential manual shifting option. All this was good for sprints to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds – unbelievably quick for an SUV.
This car was auctioned off by RM Auctions in June of 2010 at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California.
