The 7-series has always been BMW’s top-of-the-line, full-size luxury sedan, in production over five generations since the late 1970s. In contrast to models from competing marques, however, the 7-series is equally enjoyable as a chauffeur-driven sedan as it is a true driver’s car with M-derived performance engineering. The E65 and E66 generation “7” (short- and long-wheelbase) marked a tremendous break from tradition as it not only heralded the cutting-edge modern design of all modern BMWs, but it also introduced the comprehensive iDrive system.
