Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 30th Anniversary Special Edition

With its uninterrupted production since 1969, the 30th Anniversary of Trans Am production in 1999 was an occasion to celebrate at Pontiac. The Trans Am’s fourth generation F-Body platform, introduced in 1993, was continuously improved and redesigned in 1998, serving through 2002 when Pontiac Firebird and Chevrolet Camaro production ceased.

The 30th Anniversary Trans Am option marked a return to normally aspirated V8 power, this time with an all-aluminum 346-cubic inch LS1 V8. Rated output was a stout 320 hp with Ram Air induction via a pair of functional hood scoops at the forward edge of the hood, reminiscent of the Firebird Formula of the early 1970s. Underpinnings included the famed WS6 performance option, further elevating handling and braking.

This car was auctioned off by RM Auctions in June of 2010 at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California.

320 bhp, 346 cu. in. LS1 V8 engine with electronic fuel injection and Ram Air induction, six-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with MacPherson struts, coil springs and anti-roll bar, live rear axle with trailing links and torque arm, Panhard rod, and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.
