Pontiac GTO Convertible

The Pontiac GTO burst onto both an unsuspecting public and journalists alike in 1964. Even when automobile magazines criticized John DeLorean’s new design for its tires and brakes, they still concluded by saying they loved it. It was relatively small, very fast and a smart combination of parts that were basically being wasted in other uses.

This car was auctioned off by RM Auctions in June of 2010 at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California and in November of 2010 at the Robson Estate, Gainesville, Georgia.

348 hp, 389 cu. in. V8 engine, “Tri-Power” three two-barrel carburetors, four-speed transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live axle rear suspension with leaf springs, four-wheel drum brakes. Wheelbase: 115".
