Chevrolet Corvette Vintage Racing Car
Introduced for 1963, the Bill Mitchell-designed Sting Ray was a milestone in the Corvette’s development. Equipped with an independent rear suspension by Zora Arkus-Duntov and a growing list of performance options, the Corvette matured into a true sports car. In October 1962, Doug Hooper won the L.A. Times Grand Prix at Riverside in the new Corvette’s racing debut, and soon, famous racers including Dick Guldstrand, Bob Bondurant and Dave MacDonald added to the victory tally.
This car was auctioned off by RM Auctions in March of 2010 at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, Florida.
