Aston Martin Vanquish
As befits any bespoke car, the Vanquish was well equipped no matter the client’s wishes. But although luxury features were important, it was superb road-going performance that was its raison d'être. The heart of the car is its silky smooth, high revving, all alloy twelve-cylinder engine. Combined with state-of-the-art fuel injection, the car produces astonishing torque for startling off-the-line performance, combined with breathtaking horsepower for exceptional top-speed performance. Power delivery was paramount, and consequently, the car was fitted with one of the world’s first paddle-shifted six-speed gearboxes, capable of full manual or semi-automatic operation. The car’s close ratio transmission works in concert with advanced electronics to match gear ratios and engine speeds – and even includes a special winter driving program.
Aston Martin has always played the role of gentleman’s express, masterfully combining tasteful interiors, elegant panel work and outstanding performance. The V-12 Vanquish has often been credited with the renaissance of this classic British brand. Traditional design cues such as the signature grille opening, wide fenders and a low hood line make this the most striking and masculine Aston Martin, perhaps of all time.
This car was auctioned off by RM Auctions in January of 2011 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, Phoenix, Arizona.
