Porsche Cayenne Turbo
From Porsche press: The Cayenne Turbo underscores the bold sporty nature of the Porsche of SUVs. For $89,300 ($125,650 Canadian), the Cayenne Turbo provides the exhilaration of a twin-turbocharged Porsche V8 engine that generates 450 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Flowing through the six- speed Tiptronic S transmission, the Cayenne Turbo’s powerplant propels the athletic yet luxurious SUV to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 5.2 seconds and to 99 mph (160 km/h) in only 12.9 seconds. The Cayenne Turbo has achieved a top track speed of 165 mph (266 km/h) and in addition to being the fastest SUV to lap Germany’s famed Nürburgring test circuit, the Cayenne Turbo has been among the fastest vehicles of any kind to circumnavigate the historic road course.
The 2005 Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo share the architecture of a sport utility vehicle but also the soul that is part of every Porsche. They have the room and the luxury and the safety features that a family demands for its four-wheel-drive adventures – whether they involve wilderness trails, inclement weather conditions or a weekend away with a boat in tow. They also provide the dynamic driving experience that Porsche’s enthusiast customers expect from each of their vehicles.
Optional on the Cayenne and standard on the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo is Porsche’s highly acclaimed six-speed Tiptronic S transmission.
Tiptronic S provides an enhanced range of individual gear increments compared to most other automatic transmissions and retains the driver’s option to shift gears manually by moving the selector lever on the center console to the left into the manual gear selector gate or by using thumb-activated switches mounted on the steering wheel. The driver can press the upper portion of the thumb switch or tip the center console shift selector forward to advance the gears, or press the lower part of the thumb switch or tip the shift selector back to downshift.
