From Porsche press: The Porsche Cayenne is powered by a 247-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6 engine. When equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission, the Cayenne can accelerate from a standing start to 60 mph (96 km/h) in only 8.5 seconds. Yet the Cayenne retains all of the off-pavement capabilities that have delighted Cayenne owners who need to venture away from pavement or who need a vehicle capable of towing up to 7,716 pounds (3,500 kg).
The 2005 Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo share the architecture of a sport utility vehicle but also the soul that is part of every Porsche. They have the room and the luxury and the safety features that a family demands for its four-wheel-drive adventures – whether they involve wilderness trails, inclement weather conditions or a weekend away with a boat in tow. They also provide the dynamic driving experience that Porsche’s enthusiast customers expect from each of their vehicles.
Optional on the Cayenne and standard on the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo is Porsche’s highly acclaimed six-speed Tiptronic S transmission.
Tiptronic S provides an enhanced range of individual gear increments compared to most other automatic transmissions and retains the driver’s option to shift gears manually by moving the selector lever on the center console to the left into the manual gear selector gate or by using thumb-activated switches mounted on the steering wheel. The driver can press the upper portion of the thumb switch or tip the center console shift selector forward to advance the gears, or press the lower part of the thumb switch or tip the shift selector back to downshift.
