Ford Mustang MALCO Gasser
Popular during the mid to late 1960’s, “gassers” were mass-produced cars modified for drag racing that on gasoline, hence the name. While regulations required that gassers be supplied with production-based bodies on production-based chassis, the rules did not designate what material had to be used to build the body or that the body and frame be from the same manufacturer.
This loophole allowed manufacturers the flexibility to provide teams with bodies made of lightweight fiberglass.
