Last week at the California Auto Show Dodge announced that their 5-passenger Dodge Nitro will go into production for the 2007 model year. And this week we caught an early production version of the Nitro on the road and it seems that only the side air-vents will change slightly.

Dodge will complete their line-up with this mid-size SUV (size wise comparable to the Nissan Xterra) and plans to arrive in European volume markets next year.

The Dodge Nitro, first shown at the 2005 Chicago show earlier this year, is based on the Jeep Liberty and will also share the same 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 (211 hp, 235 lb-ft of torque) engine.
