The 2011 Jeep Compass is based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Upgraded steering and suspension improve its ride and handling. Offering high gas mileage for an off-road capable 4x4, it has an optional “Freedom Drive II” off-road package. The Compass is Jeep’s entry into the mid-sized SUV market, aiming to combine the packaging and interior flexibility of an SUV with the performance, handling, fuel economy and price of a compact car.
Jeep Compass is designed to deliver world-class performance and fuel economy. Jeep Compass features a 2.4-liter World Engine that produces 172 horsepower (129 kW), 165 lb.-ft. (224 N•m) of torque, and (when paired with a five-speed manual transmission) delivers 23 mpg city and 28 mpg on the highway on both 4x2 and 4x4 models.
