Honda Civic Si
From Honda press: New for 2002, an all-new Hatchback version of the Honda Civic carrying the legendary "Si" badge will go on sale in the Spring of 2002. The Si offers high performance with a sporty exterior package and performance oriented interior. Under the hood is a high-output DOHC 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine that produces 160-horsepower and 130-lbs/ft of torque, while attaining the Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) status.
The Honda Civic Si Hatchback, the car that launched the sport compact performance car craze, will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $19,000 with a standard 5-speed manual transmission when it reaches dealer showrooms this week, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced today. Models equipped with side airbags cost $19,250.
The Civic Si's bold, European-inspired, 3-door hatchback shape was developed with a "solid and dynamic" design theme. It is characterized by a short nose and large hood, large aerodynamic cabin and dynamic side character lines. In front, a deep chin spoiler is smoothly integrated into the front bumper, while a mesh grille adds high-tech air. The rear of the hatchback is finished off with a roof spoiler, a skirt integrated into the rear bumper and dual chrome-tipped exhaust. In addition, the designers studied every aspect of the body in an effort to reduce drag and minimize wind noise.
