McLaren Delivered a Record Number of Supercars in 2015
12C, P1, 650S, 675LT, 570S, and so on. McLaren’s lineup seems to grow larger by the month, and with the immediate success of the 12C, and the newfound success in the more ‘affordable’ 570S, it's yielding some impressive sales figures in just the automaker's fourth year in business. McLaren delivered 1,654 cars around the world in 2015, 519 of those vehicles being in North America. That marks the third consecutive year that the company is seeing growth, and the largest percent increase in sales in its short history. And the sales ball just keeps on rollin’. Already in 2016, the company is seeing a 78 percent increase in North American sales through the first half of the year, selling 451 cars between January and June of 2016, compared to only 253 in the same timeframe last year. Remember that just 519 cars were delivered in total in North America throughout 2015. RELATED: See More of the All-New McLaren 570S Coupe
By the end of 2016, total number of McLaren retailers will expand to 22, including the newest dealership in Montreal, Canada. It’s all a part of McLaren’s own “Master Plan” to invest more than $1 billion in the next six years to launch 15 all-new models, with at least half of which using hybrid and pure electric powertrains.
Comparatively, McLaren is still behind companies like Lamborghini (3,245) and Aston Martin (3,615) in sales by a healthy margin. But if new car deliveries continue to skyrocket, McLaren could be at the top of the supercar sales board much sooner than anyone likely expected.
