Mercedes-AMG GT R Production Reportedly Limited to Just 2,000 Units
Building on the already powerful backbone of the Mercedes-AMG GT, the AMG GT R debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a snarling 577-horsepower V8, and enough new aero work to make a stealth bomber blush. One can only assume that buyers quickly lined up to get their hands on one; too bad not all of them will. Speaking with Autocar, company execs hinted that the high-horsepower GT R would be limited to just 2,000 examples in its lifetime. That may not seem like a very ‘limited’ run, but consider when the AMG GT R initially launched, Mercedes said it wouldn’t be limited at all. RELATED: See More of the 577-Horsepower Mercedes-AMG GT R
News of limited production only further ups the yet-to-be-determined value of the vehicle, now and in the future. With no official pricing given, don’t expect to see anything south of $200,000, if not more. Mercedes also expects most buyers to use their AMG GT R more on the track then on the road.
More details, including price and production specifics should be given at a later date.
