Stunning 908-04 Concept is the Race Car Porsche Should Be Building
This is the Porsche 908-04 concept. It's the combined brainchild of six different designers with one common goal. They set out to make a car that harkened back to the basics, a pure manual race car without any paddle shifters or sequential transmission. And that's very admirable—but somewhere along the way they decided to make it stunningly beautiful as well. Intended as a modern take on the classic 1969 908 LH, the 908-04 features a more modern aesthetic, including a 918-style fascia, and a 'longtail' rear that gives it a more unique profile. The biggest problem is that it doesn't exist in the real world, nor will it probably ever. RELATED: See Photos of the 1970 Porsche 908/03 Spyder
On their website, PorscheVisionGT, it says the idea was to bring back the spirit of old-school Porsches and revive that driving personality that's been forgotten over the years. They wanted it to be the kind of car that filled your heart with joy, and got it racing just thinking about getting behind the wheel.
Although it's only a concept, the team worked hard to make sure that the final design was feasible. Keeping in mind real-world dimensions, and using constraints on things like the seating position, visibility, and headroom that would be required to actually build this concept.
It's a car for Porsche enthusiasts, and one they'd likely pay handsomely to own...if it were only something they could buy.
