Did the 2017 Camaro ZL1’s Nurburgring Lap Time Get Leaked?
Nurburgring times are a big deal to manufacturers, especially for highly-anticipated performance cars. The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 definitely falls into that category, and it looks like we may finally have a Nurburgring time for the American sports car...from an unlikely source. According to Wikipedia (that's right, Wikipedia), the Camaro ZL1 allegedly set a Nurburgring lap time of 7:23:77. Though, it's since been removed from the website. As CamaroNews points out, it's an odd way to get this sort of information, and keeping in mind that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, it's possible the number isn't right at all. Or it's possible someone knows something we don't, and decided to share that something with the rest of us. RELATED: See Photos of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
With that time on paper—true or not—that would put the Camaro ZL1 square between the 2012 C6 Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 GT2 RS (not including the McLaren F1 XP4 prototype). That would also make it faster than cars like the Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari Enzo. That’s pretty impressive for the large-and-in-charge 640-horsepower Camaro.
Unfortunately, there's neither a date nor a driver listed, and any other details surrounding the run are still pretty slim. All it states is that GM conducted the test along with a time. We'll have to see if this information changes or stays the same with a little more detail, hopefully from the folks at GM.
