Pretty in Purple: Rare Aston Martin Vulcan Heading to Auction
An 800-horsepower, 7.0-liter V12 sits under the hood of its purple bonnet. Of 24 examples ever being built, this one is number 11. And with a price tag of $2.3 million brand new, one can only assume it should get close to that when plenty of ferocious bidders are involved. That’s going to be the situation in Monterey at the end of August when this stunning, lightly-used Aston Martin Vulcan heads to the Mecum auction block. The track-only British supercar was introduced less than a year ago, but already, someone is parting ways with it after a very brief ownership. It’s only one of three Vulcans in the U.S., and though Mecum doesn’t list the mileage, you have to assume that most of its short life was spent in a weather-proof garage somewhere.
The 2016 Mecum auction in Monterey, California, starts on Thursday, August 18th, and runs through Saturday, August 20th.
