RevoZport’s 650-HP Mercedes-AMG is Your GT R Alternative
Just last week, Mercedes pulled the covers of its latest and hottest-performing sports car—the AMG GT R—a heavily reworked version of the sublime AMG GT and GT S. It’s quick, naught to 60 mph takes just 3.5 seconds, there’s 577 horsepower under the hood, and it’s received a thorough diet of motorsports-derived technology. But if it doesn’t fit your fancy, or perhaps if you’ve already dropped $130,000 on the standard AMG GT S, worry not. Automotive tuner RevoZport has plied its trade with the AMG GT and the result is the aggressive GTZ-650 package. No, it may not be as sleek and well rounded as the new GT R, but it is still plenty spicy, what with 650 horsepower under the hood… about 150 ponies more than the GT S. In its transformation from 503 horsepower sports car to 650 hp supercar, RevoZport’s GTZ-650 package adds on a new ram-air intake system, made entirely out of carbon fiber, as well as a remapped engine control unit, and a titanium exhaust, which shaves 22 pounds from the car’s curb weight. All told, the GTZ package adds some poke, but it’s the more visible changes that become immediately obvious.
RevoZport adds a custom aerodynamic kit to the sports car’s already racy body, complete with carbon fiber canards, a choice of either a duckbill trunk lip spoiler or fixed rear wing, side skirts, and an aggressive carbon kevlar front splitter. All in all, the design is said to give nod to the late-great Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series, and we’d be inclined to agree.

While a GTZ-650 equipped AMG GT S may have the advantage in all-out top speed, the AMG GT R is still very likely the faster car on track, thanks to its heavily re-worked suspension, which was developed at Germany’s famed Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit. It is however likely to be quite the pricy car. Though Mercedes has yet to comment on pricing, many are predicting a tag just shy of $200,000.
Expectedly, the RevoZport’s GTZ-650 package is a bit less. All in, the aero kit demands $11,600 while the performance modifications ask a total of $8,360.
