Barn Find 1970 Plymouth Superbird Shows Up on Craigslist
These days, people are paying well over six figures for a pristine Plymouth Superbird. Just take it to auction and watch the price climb. But this "barn find" (says the seller) 1970 Plymouth Superbird is your chance to get your hands on some classic American muscle for cheap; the asking price on Craigslist is just $85,000. There aren't a lot of details about the car, but we do know the 440 Super Commando under the hood only has about 43,000 miles on it, which is a nice, low number for a car this age. It hasn't been on the road since 1986, though, so it's been sitting for 30 years and needs a good restoration before it's ready to drive. Considering that it's been sitting in a barn for 30 years, BarnFinds notes, the Superbird looks to be in surprisingly healthy condition, from the 440 under the hood to the all-original interior. So whoever buys it will have a pretty good starting point for their restoration project.
As mentioned, the price on Craigslist is currently $85,000, and that might turn out to be a steal when all is said and done. Some of the rarer ones have been to auctions with six-figure starting bids. Once restored and made road worthy, this one should be worth a lot more, and could turn a tidy profit for someone willing to do the work.
